About The Event

A chance to get some miles under your belt as we island hop our way down to Grenada past St Vincent and the Grenadines – a distance of 132 miles. Like much of the Caribbean's Windward Islands, St Vincent and the Grenadines present dramatic landscapes of lush tropical forests framed by sheer volcanic backdrops – our plan will be to make good time and enjoy landfall in Grenada but we may have an opportunity to stop en route if conditions allow.

Please note booking priority for this event is for those wishing join the passage as an add on to Grenada Regatta.

Pre-Course Requirements

As this passage takes us into open sea between the islands and may involve a watch system and some night sailing we ask that you have some sailing experience - to Competent Crew level or above.

The boat

We mostly coach on yachts of between 37 and 41ft. Our yachts have been specifically chosen as they are easy to handle, great for learning! There is no denying us girls sometimes don't have the physical strength of the boys but with our technical ability and a well-chosen yacht we can do just as well. You will usually find yourself aboard an Élan 37, Jeanneau 37 or a Beneteau 40.7. All of your time will be spent living as crew-mates on your yacht.  Most of the yachts have 9/10 berths with 3 cabins and a saloon so the boats will normally have 2 persons in each cabin i.e. 6 - this is always the case for an RYA course, MAX 6 persons on-board. On some events e.g. races we use the saloon which can sleep an additional 2-4 person.

About Grenada

Cowes is widely credited as being the birthplace of UK yachting, seeing Grenada is a rolling, mountainous island, covered with fragrant spice trees and rare tropical flowers. Bordered by stunning beaches, and dotted with picturesque towns, the island is ringed with miles of picture-perfect sands, including the world famous Grand Anse Beach, a smooth expanse stretching for two miles around the curve of a gentle bay.
